Selling a product on Amazon is impossible without conducting thorough keyword research to determine what your competitors rank for and what your potential customers search for. Using tools like Helium 10 and Jungle Scout you can extract the relevant data, which you can then plug into InfraNodus to get advanced insights about high-potential niches and gaps in the market. Here's how it works.
Helium 10: Long-Tail Keyword Analysis
There are two main ways to conduct keyword research using Helium 10: analyzing related search queries and studying the current supply for a specific product niche.
Both types of searches produce a long table of related keywords or products (this is for a search query "conversation book"):
The table itself is not so useful. However, you can export it as a CSV file and then import into InfraNodus to extract the main topics of keyword co-occurrences:
For example, you'll see that the main topics among those long-tail keywords are:
- relationship love
- public speaking
- language learning (german)
- travel guide
Which gives us a good indication of the possible product niches.
Identifying the Market Gaps with InfraNodus
The structure of this graph shows that the topics such as "Public Speaking" and "German Language" and not so well connected, which may indicate that if we come up with an interesting product description / idea that bridges this gap, we'll offer a product that will be interesting to our customers as well as the Amazon's search algorithm (because we'll fill in a gap):
We can also use the built-in AI in InfraNodus to generate a product idea for us based on this topical gap. We can then reiterate through this process several times in order to identify other potential gaps and niches.
Jungle Scout: Studying the Market Supply
Using the Jungle Scout browser extension, we can create a list of the products offered on Amazon for a certain search query:
We can then apply the same approach to analyze the picture of the current product supply and identify the main topics and gaps within, to help us see what are the unoccupied niches better:
